Names of God

Yahweh Roi יהוה ראי

The Lord is my Shepherd

The Lord is my friend

Yahweh Roi means "Yahweh my shepherd". Hebrew roi/roeh and raah also means "special friend" or "companion".

This wonderful name and assurance of God from Psalm 23:1 appears only once in the Old Testament.

And yet, the creation, the prophets and the entire scriptures point to the Good Shepherd, the promised messiah Jesus Christ, who would eventually give His life for His sheep and offer redemption through the blood shed on the cross, in order to bring salvation, peace and eternal life and restore the relationship with God the Father.

He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep."
